Is
there any woman who isn't searching for the perfect jeans? We
spoke to denim expert Paige Adams-Geller for tips on finding
you most flattering pair.
The
Designer:
For
almost a decade she was dubbed "the denim industry's secret
weapon" but former model Paige Adams-Geller has launched
her own line of "flattering and feminine" jeans that
have Hollywood A-listers lining up and stores around the world
stocking up.
Adams-Geller
was originally a fit model for brands such as 7 For All Mankind,
Citizens of Humanity, True Religion and Blue Cult, and soon
became a design consultant too. "I wasn't just a person
that stood there as a hanger," she says. "I learned
the technical as well as the creative side so I could make suggestions
to improve the designs."
In
February 2005, she launched her jeans label, Paige Premium Denim.
"At first I was scared to death and I didn't think it would
happen easily." says Adams-Geller. "But I also believed
I had the expertise to create a jean that was different to what
was available."
Apart
from the US, the successful label is now stocked in Europe,
Asia and locally in Australia. Adams-Geller has also opened
her own store in West Hollywood. Located just opposite A-lister
restaurant The Ivy, it's the perfect place for her celebrity
clientele to drop in and pick up the latest style.
While
the Paige Premium Denim brand has acquired a huge celebrity
fan-base (including the likes of Angelina Jolie, Lindsay Lohan
and Eva Longoria), Adams-Geller's philosophy has never been
about stars or following trends. She's passionate about creating
styles to fit real women's bodies. "You can't change your
body shape, but with the right pair of jeans you can create
the illusion of longer legs," explains Adams-Geller. "You
can also make hips look smaller and thighs look slimmer."
Adams
Geller says that while you can try on a thousand pairs of jeans,
it always comes down to the ones that fit you best. "It's
not about the jeans wearing you."
- Angelina Jolie favours
skinnies, but also loves Paige Premium's straight-leg Melrose
style.
- Paris Hilton likes the
basic boot-cut style, Laurel Canyon, Paige Premium Denim's
biggest seller.
- Jessica Alba is a big
fan of Laurel Canyon too, teaming them with flats and a cropped
jacket.
- Carmen Electra dresses
up cropped Paige Premium jeans with metallic heels.
- Amy Smart goes for a
boot-leg style in faded indigo teamed with a simple rock tee.
- Kate Hudson in
straight-leg jeans with platforms. Mum, Goldie Hawn is also
a fan of the label.
