Juicy Couture was founded
in 1994 by Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash. The Juicy Couture
brand was popular on the West Coast of the United States. The
fashion line focused on comfortable women's sweat suits and
sportswear. Juicy Couture added collections for men and children
in 2002, and bathing suits and accessories for women, including
shoes, handbags and jewelry were added to Juicy's line in 2004.
Nash
is married bassist John Taylor of Duran Duran. Taylor and Duran
Duran singer Simon Le Bon performed at a party launching the
line's East Coast debut in New York City in November, 1999.
In 2003 Travis
Jeans Inc, which owned all of Juicy Couture's assets, was purchased
by Liz Claiborne Inc. Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor remained co-presidents
of the company, and remain the creative minds behind Juicy Couture.

In
this week's Hib Report, it's all so very Terry terry
cloth, that is. The fashionable fabric can be found just about
everywhere, as The Early Show's Laurie Hibberd can attest to.
The
plush soft fabric most often associated with towels, and perhaps
robes, has now emerged as a fabric of choice for many designers.
Following the widely popular terry outfits by Juicy Couture,
the terry trend is infiltrating products from underwear to furnishings.
Aside
from casual comfort, the terry cloth phenomena may be attributable
to the continuing demand for athletic-like styles, along with
the extended life of the retro '70s looks.
When
shopping for terry cloth products, a simple visual and touch
test can give clues to the quality of the fabric. According
to George Ganiaris, Chairperson from the Textile, Development
and Marketing Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology
in New York, the determining characteristics to terry cloth's
quality include its weight, stitch density and pile height.
Ganiaris stresses it's often difficult for the average consumer
to tell the difference in terry cloth.
Once
upon a time in a land far, far away called Pacoima, there were
two nice girls, Pam and Gela, who set out to create the perfect
girlie collection, Juicy Couture. Pam and Gela really really
loved to shop so they knew that the collection had to be all
about shopping for the perfect thing to wear. And they also
knew that if something made them happy that it would make other
girls happy too! Juicy Couture is all about feeling happy and
comfy and gorgeous. Be happy wear Juicy Couture is the Juicy
Couture philosophy and Juicy Couture girls love to laugh? Soon
the legend of Juicy Couture spread and men decided that they
wanted to feel as fabulous and wonderful as the Juicy Couture
girls... In a manly man kind of way of course. So Pam and Gela
created the most perfectly brilliant collection for men. Now
everybody can be as Juicy Couture as they want or need do be.
Juicy Couture swept the land and everybody lived happily ever
after.
